I haven’t been buying a lot of eye shadows lately because I tend to stick to the boring matte champagne colors but when I was at Walmart at 10:30 at night (don’t ask), I saw this gorgeous Hard Candy palette. It was basically love at first sight. Who needs boys when you have pretty makeup right?

There were five different varieties of this palette: nudes, pinks, greens, purples and blues. Usually I would go for the nudes palette, but then I saw this one, the pinks palette called ‘Pinking of You’! The name is kind of adorable. I’m usually not a fan of pink eyeshadow, hello pink eye! But these shades seemed so wearable and this palette only cost around six dollars so I decided to give it a try!

I’m so glad I did because I am obsessed with this palette. I bought it a week ago and I’ve worn it every single day which is quite an accomplishment for me! The formulation is so pigmented and they almost have a creamy texture, not a flaky powdery feel at all! The ten-shade selection in this palette is very well thought out. They have some true pink colors towards the right end of the palette but they also included some taupes and peaches towards the other end as well as a white and a cranberry color. With the wide selection of colors, their are so many different eye looks you could create! Anythings from a very natural eye to a more smoked pink look! I’ve been having so much fun playing around with this palette. The only downside to this palette would be that their are only shimmery shades. There is an absence of matte shades but if you don’t mind shimmer, this is definitely the palette for you!

I know this scenery doesn’t look exactly Spring-y, but after the longest Winter ever, this is as Spring as it’s going to get! The high was +7 degrees (Celsius obvs.) so I couldn’t wait to bring out my fun spring clothes! No more dark colors for me!

These pants are the epitome of Spring. They are such a fun floral print and they make me so happy! I paired them with one of my favorite tops from Vero Moda with a lace neckline and a flowy chiffon fabric. It was still a bit chilly so I added a long blue cardigan and wore some grey flats. I am so excited to start wearing flats again! I’ve been a bit bored with booties.

I kept my accessories very Spring-like with this bangle from Accessory  Mercado. It brings out the colors in the pants with the fun green and turquoise design. For earrings, I wore these daisy studs from Majestical Jewelry. What is Spring without florals?

Tinted lip balms have become so popular lately but I feel like many just miss the mark. However, these Covergirl Smoochies lip balms are amazing, yay for fabulous lip products!

I have two of the twelve colors available but I totally want to go pick up some more. First, is Tweet Me, a cherry red color. Next, is Luv U, a mauve mid-tone pink. Both colors are a very moisturizing formula with sheer but still pigmented color payoff. These remind me a lot of the Maybelline Baby Lips. The Tweet Me Smoochies is almost an exact dupe for the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me, except it has a less obnoxious smell (I hate the smell of artificial cherries). The Covergirl Smoochies in Luv U is definitely my favorite of the two. It is such a wearable color and it looks great with almost every makeup look! Plus, I find the formula decently moisturizing which is very uncommon for my dry lips. As for scent/flavour, the Smoochies remind me a lot of BonneBell lip smackers. It’s a very fruity scent, not my least favorite but not a fantastic smell either. These are kind of like the grown up version of Lipsmackers. We all have to grow up sometime. Other than that, I love the Covergirl Smoochies and you probably will too okay? Okay.

-go to orientation: I am an orientation leader for all you incoming freshman this year, so of course I want you all to go to orientation, but in all honesty, I found orientation so fun and it really made me love campus! Also, it helps you figure out your way around campus and meet new people!

-get a locker: If you aren’t living on campus, a locker can be really helpful. I mostly use mine for storing my winter jacket, textbooks and lab coat and goggles in between classes! I don’t want to be carrying all that all over campus!

-don’t buy food: During my first semester of uni, I bought food almost every day. Apart from it being incredibly unhealthy (um hello New York Fries Braised Beef Poutine <3), my wallet suffered. I have been a bit better this semester. I still buy supper on campus when I’m staying late but I usually bring my own lunch. Yay me!

-used textbooks: I don’t understand why people buy textbooks new. If you’re using it for only a semester, who cares if the pages are bent or the cover is torn. I used sites like Kijiji, Bookmob, Chegg, as well as friends for finding the cheapest textbooks!

-find classes ahead of time: make sure you take the time to find your classes before they start! I hate walking into a lecture and trying to find a seat when the class has already started. Also, find the best routes in between classes because once winter has hit, you’re gonna hate going outside.

-sit near the front: don’t worry about being a keener. I find that sitting near the front makes me more engaged in the class and keeps me from chatting too much with my friends. (even though I still do oops)

-have breaks with friends: I love my breaks with my friends. It helps you forget about the stress of school for an hour and you can just catch up. It’s fab.

-friends/support group: I can’t even begin to tell you how much I need my friends in university. They are going through the exact same thing as you so they are great for ranting to (or crying or hyperventilating y’know).

-stay at school to do homework: I don’t know about you but if I go home right after school, I just go on tumblr or watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians for like 8 hours straight. Alas, my homework doesn’t get done. Therefore, I usually stay at school and try to get all my work done there. Uni has such great studying places. If you go to the University of Alberta, try fourth and fifth floor of CCIS and of course, my favorite Cameron Library.

-keep organized- Stay on track, keep all your notes organized, keep up with textbook readings etc etc. You know the drill.

-ratemyprof: The professor you get really determines your grade in the class. Research the type of notes he gives, how hard his tests are, his accent (I’m horrible at understanding accents!), how easy he marks, flexible office hours etc.

-make friends: I’m not a posterchild for this tip because I definitely didn’t make many new friends last semester. I tended to stick with my high school friends but I did make a couple of new friends! If you are going to a university with no one you know, definitely just start chatting to people in your lectures. They will be so grateful that you did!

-go to class: It is so easy to skip classes at university. Nobody will notice and nobody cares. However, I find that going to class is really beneficial. It forces you to keep on top up of all that new information and you can hear the profs explain things which is usually pretty helpful (sometimes not).

-sorority: I’m not in a sorority right now, but I did do rush (recruitment) and I absolutely loved it! I’m definitely going to be joining this year and I’m super excited. It’s such a great way to feel involved in university and meet new people (and boys just saying— hey frat boys!)

-grades: study lots and try your best but your gpa doesn’t define you. You will accomplish everything if you are determined. Your health is more important than your grades.

-live: I know that the most important thing about university is your grades but do you really want to spend these four years just studying? When you exit university, you are going to be an adult and your are going to be in the real world. So why not just relax a bit and enjoy your last years of freedom. Sometimes you need a few nights out of a month to enjoy what life has to offer. For example, me and my friends devote every friday (termed Friday Funday) to explore the shops around campus and eat at a new restaurant. Sure, we could be studying and saving our money, but we look forward to every friday and it has become such a fun tradition.

I guess what I’m trying to say, is that follow these tips but don’t put a lot of stress on yourself. I hated the thought of university but once I started to relax and get acquainted with it, I fell in love. University has so much to offer. It is full of so many new experiences. I know that I always said how much I love high school but university is truly so much better. Say goodbye to cliques and drama and say hello to a whole new life (and cuter boys #holla).

For some reason, I always had a negative opinion of this mascara before I even had a chance to try it. This is the Clinique High Lengths Mascara and it’s one of the most unique mascaras on the market.

The brush is unlike any other mascara. It is a long, curved silicone wand with bristles on only one side, almost like a fine toothed comb. I thought this would do absolutely nothing to my lashes but boy, was I wrong. I usually get very annoyed with my eyelashes. They’re naturally very long so I often have trouble with getting them to look orderly and not all tangled and clumped together. But this wand was able to brush out my lashes, like a comb would brush out your hair. It separates each eye lash while adding noticeable length and definition. Plus, I find it gives a nice curl to my eyelashes which is always a bonus because I don’t physically curl them with an eyelash curler.

Even though the wand is what makes this mascara so cool, the formula is also super awesome too. It’s a great true black color that doesn’t flake throughout the day. But because it’s not waterproof, it comes off easily at night with makeup remover. I can’t stand mascaras that are hard to remove.

The only problem I experienced with this mascara was the lack of volume it contributes to my lashes. It’s great at adding length and definition but if you are looking for volume, this won’t do it for you. However, I’ve been using this as a layering mascara. I apply a coat of this first and then use my Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (review here) overtop which adds lots of volume! If I experience any clumps, I’ll run this wand through my lashes once more to separate the lashes. And voila! Perfect Lashes!

I have been waiting for the first sight of sunshine and warm weather to begin wearing all my sunglasses again after this dreadfully long winter.

These sunglasses are from Firmoo.com, one of my favorite sunglass and eyewear websites. I’ve also reviewed a pair of regular eyeglasses from Firmoo so check that out as well when you have a chance here.

I’ve been looking for a simple pair of sunglasses and these ones fit the bill perfectly. They’re a tortoiseshell with dark lenses. My favorite part about them is the size. I have a pretty small face so I always have trouble finding sunglasses that aren’t going to slide off or make me look like I’m playing dress-up with my mommy’s sunglasses. I think these ones suit my face shape fairly well!

I know it can be a bit tricky to guess if a pair of glasses will suit your face or not, so to eliminate that, Firmoo has a great virtual try-on system in which you can upload a picture of your face or use a model’s face to see what the glasses look like on your face! Also, if you’re still not convinced that these are the glasses for you, you can try out the First Pair Free Program. This program allows you to pick out a pair of eyeglasses entirely for free! How could you say no to that?!

With my new shorter hair, I have been gravitating more towards an edgy style. My lace and florals are slowly fading away. I’m sure they will return when my hair gets long again, but for now, let’s have some fun with my new look.

I started out with this great tee from Elizabeth & Clarke. I have talked about them before (check out my previous outfit) but long story short, they are a subscription service that sends one to three high quality shirts a season depending on which box you select. I am in love with this company! All of their shirts have such a nice fit and they are a perfect compliment to my growing closet. This t shirt is very basic but it is the perfect layering piece! It is incredibly soft, with a wide boatneck and a flattering fit. Every girl needs a shirt like this! I paired it with my favorite faux leather jacket and tied a flannel around my waist. I’ve been loving that trend lately. i feel like it makes it so easy to bring more color into your outfit. For bottoms, I’m wearing a pair of leggings from Chicnova that have faux leather panels down the side and my high-top converse.
